Starting Problem
About 3 weeks ago I put on a 2" tank lift kit. Since then the bike's been hard to start once in a while. The starter will turn over and then it sounds like the engine "skips." When I let off the starter button I hear a sound like a blast of air for a second or two. I hit the starter button again and she starts up fine. It doesn't always do this but seems to do it more often when the motor is hot. I also get the smell of fuel after the hiss as though I flooded a carb, yet the bike is FI. Any thoughts as to what is causing this?
I think the FI cranking fuel is too rich. What ever you use, SERT, PC, etc, cut the cranking fuel.
Mine made those same sounds and hard starting especially when hot. I nickeled and dimes the thing (small adjustments) and then made a -10 on all cranking fuel. Fired right up. Can always fine tune later.

I have a fuel pak with V&H staggard pipes. I had these put on before I picked it up 2 years ago from the dealer. The problem didn't start until after I put on the tank lift kit. Would a lift kit cause me to have these problems and force me to recalibrate the fuel pak? Doesn't make sense to me.
