Default Breather mod for K&N air filter

Installing a K&N replacement filter on a 2000 EFI Road King. Should I open up the breather more by adding holes for more air to get in?

Is it the stock back plate? I am sure there will be a few different opinions. I would not bother, but I am sure some would say yes.

A K&N filter that's restricted in a stock can isn't going to flow near as well as it would in a higher flowing can.

Hi there.

Adding near 10-12 1/2" holes on the backplate you'll add some more air.
It's an alternative to an aftermarket filter, and the power gain you have is between stock and an aftermarket filter like SE.

On many bike it's a common mod like the Suzuki Bandit, Kawasaki ZRX1200.
For example with Ivan's jet kit for Kawa ZRX1200 you add 12 3/8" holes on the filter cover like in this photo of the kit and instructions:

I did the same mod on my ZRX1200, I've a tutorrial into my website.
