carb overflow hose

carb overflow hose
where does the carb overflow hose attach? i picked up my bike today and when i got home noticed the back right side of my bike ciovered in what i thought was oil but may be gas since i noticed the overflow hose was just dangling there. would that cause a performance problem besides causing a mess?

and obviously i am the furthest thing from a mechanic so this may not even be the problem? i cant seem to see where there is leakage since it only seems to spray when accelerating. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. but a little more info, the only spots covered in liquid were the back of the right side exhaust, my saddlebag, passenger pegs and side/back of seat. nothing wet from tansmissioncover forward. what could this be?
