I've asked this question before and got no real feedback other than stupid comments about getting rid of the S&S and putting on a Mikuni. The same people that say "buy american". Why would I want to put on a Kawasaki carb? If I wanted a jap carb I would have left the Honda CV carb on it.
Anyway, I digress, I talked to my brother who is a motorcycle mechanic about the DaVinci kit and he said you might see slight improvements but nothing really noticable. He suggested spending the money on something that would really improve the performance like cams for instance.
I just did a search to review my old post and you were one of the guys that replied. What the hell does "Pur a yost in that S&S" mean?
I have the DaVinci Kit with my S&S Super E carb. After doing a 97" BB whith head work, I had a real bad dip in the curv with a real real bad hesition. The Bike was not even rideable in town it was ***** out or nothing, I wasn't to happy at all. The Dyno tunner told me it was the Rinehart true duals that were making it run like that. So he suggested that I go with the DaVinci kit along with a 2-1 exhaust and reDyno the bike. At that time I didn't have the $$$ for the Exhaust, So we just did the DaVinci kit and it DID help. The dip in the curv was still their but not as bad. It was now rideable, not perfect, but rideable. After finally going to the 2-1 Exhaust everthing was all good. Would my bike have ran better with out the kit and just the 2-1 ?? I don't know??? But I do know it helped make my Road King ridable with Rineharts, But it didn't give me back all the low end TQ the Rinehart True duals were robbing that's for sure.
i run a Davinci on a S&S E...motor is a 113" Ultima (evo).....Davinci builds some of the finest carbs in drag racing...he took the booster which is actually an anular booster for a holley dominator and modified it for an S&S carb....basically it became a very fancy emulsifier...what it does is to more effectively atomize fuel and keep it from puddleing in the manifold....on my bike it definitely did what it was supposed to...it had a bad stumble in the transition between circuits in the carb...thats intermediate to main circuits...with just the Davinci kit, it cleared up the stumble and made the bike a joy to ride....i personally would highly recomend it for your S&S
and the smartass mikuni people aint got a prayer over a tuned old toilet bowl S&S E on top end power...plus its not hard to make em run great thru all loads and rpms
Not useless at all..i,ve used them on pans and shovels..very distinct improvement through the S&S "Flatspot".Th stock S&S Emulsion Tube has about 6 ports in it..the yost has many more , which allows it to atomize the gas more thoroughly...that being said, its still not perfect. How much, if any, better is the DaVinci..
i replaced the yost with the davinci....it was a good move...i like you have fooled with lots of em...each engine acts and responds to changes differently...i like the davinci, but i also ran his carbs on my promod
