Default S&S or Mikuni?

For a stock 80", which would be my best choice for a little performance ugrade and more reliability than the stock carb? Each shop seems to have their own opinion. Thanks.

Updating a CV is the best and most reliable.....

Mik's are really nice for stump pullers, and a slightly warm motor... Not sensible to detune it for a stock motor.......

S&S' are too pricey for what they give you IMHO.....

CV's are my first choice for tuning, reliability, longevity and tuneability for an otherwise stock motor.....

I prefer S&S on everything..Pans ,Shovels and Evo,s ..and have done so with excellant results. Depnding on how you pay attention to setting them up, your satisfaction will vary.

Got to agree with Bob here, the CV is plenty of carb for a stock 80" motor.
Don't wast your money on a new carb, just have the CV tuned.
I had an FXR bored .010 over with SE 10.0:1 pistons,EV27 cam,Baisley Heads,SE module & cycleshack staggered duals.
All I did for a carb was have a dynajet kit and a thunderslide put in a stock CV carb and it ran like a scalded dog.
A budget build that spanked many a bike with a lot more $$$$ spent.
