Sporty dieing on me
A little background first.... it's a '98 Hugger, 4200 miles on it, previous owner has had it a couple of years, never rode it much, sitting idle in the garage mostly. I test rode it a couple of times, but everything seemed good. It's all stock, perfectly clean, no leaks.
So I ride it a couple of times back and forth to work, no problems (about 30 miles each way). Then one day, it just dies while I'm riding. No sputtering, just engine cuts out like I hit the kill switch or runs out of gas. I check what I can think of, petcock is in the right postion, switch is in "run", tank is full, vacuum line is ok, etc. It won't restart, so I sit around for a while, try it again, and it fires right up. I ride it a few more miles, same thing again. So I park it at a friends house for the night, then the next day I try to ride home, same thing again after it gets warmed up. Seems to be something heat related, vapor-locking, something like that, but I'm stumped.
I did try taking it to the dealer once, and they replaced the intake gasket, but the problem still exists as soon as the engine gets hot.
Sorry this was a bit long-winded, but hopefully it's enough info that somebody out there might have an idea for me.
Thanks!
