Default Addding Sea Foam to Oil?

I added Sea Foam to my gas tank because I was told it helps to get rid of carbon build-up. And I was told that it is also a good idea to add it to my oil. That is has many benefits adding it to oil at about 1 1/2 ounces per quart of oil.

Do you guys think this is a good idea and can it harm the engine at all? I haven't added it to the oil yet.

BTW, here is a link to Sea Foam's website:

Thanks!

I don't add it until I change the oil. I add it, warm the bike up and then drain it. Had a 'guy' add it to his tranny fluid in his truck: worked to well, dislodged some dirt/grime. The sludge siezed a needle bearing.. 1 tranny in the toilet. I use it for a quick flush of the engine oil is all. No idea if it does anything (good or bad) but I always have some laying around....

It's safe to use it as directed. I've put it in oil without any problems.

Depends on the miles. Here's the kicker. Low miles won't have any worthwhile engine deposites so why bother. High milage engines should not be given anything to dislodge massive amounts of crud. Better leaving it sit there until rebuild time. By using it on high milage engine, you could have an unscheduled teardown due to ring sealing issues or oil problems like lifters. Should be fine in the gas as it then becomes an upper cyl cleaner.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all your answers.

Ron, I recently bought the 2005 Sportster with about 800 miles on it. It now has about 1200 miles.
