I am 99% sure that I am going to go with an Axtell 97" kit for my winter project. This summer I did a budget build (see sig) and I want a little more.I would like to hear some opinions. Right now for 88ci my bike rocks! The kit is $460.00 complete. Will it be a waste?
axell is a great company with very good parts,i just question going 3.875 + .050 on HD cylinders, cylinder walls end up pretty thin,(overheating, not being able to O.S. cylinders in the future).i`de stick with 95",the extra 2 cid wouldnt be noticable anyway

Good points, but Axtell supplies new cylinders not bored out Harley ones. With engine life these days, if and when a 97 inch engine's cylinders are worn out, a new set of cylinders with pistons is not going to break the bank!

You might want to check with the head porter and see what the combustion chamber CC's are. Your going to get more compression going with the larger bore which may put you over the top for the cam your using now.
Don Dorfman did my heads (HDBD) and I'm pretty sure they are 79cc.Originally he explained to me that he set them up to accommodate 95" in the future to be 9.8 cr.

going big bore will give you a little too much compression with the 37 cams...you'll want to increase the combustion chamber volume, use a dished piston, or get a different cam...but you'll definitely get more power with the displacement increase!

Sky, I see in your sig that on your 07 Bob that you run the 37s with 9.8 CR. Thats the same as I am looking at doing.I don't think that's too high for the 37s.
