Default New Jets??

just rebuilt a 1973 xlch ironhead. bored 10 over, new pistons, new heads/valves etc...kicked over on first kick!! sounded great. after a short static run, hard to start again. reset pushrods! Tons more compression! Got er running with minimal exhaust pops, but pipes are turning blue. Someone said since going 10 over I need to re jet? WTF?? Can i fix as is without re jetting? Thanks!!

If you're still running the original Bendix carb the idle adjustment on the top of the carb affects up to about half throttle. I think if you think it's running lean just turn out that screw on the top a little and see what you get. I doubt you'd need to change the main jet with a .010 overbore. I went .030 on my 72 back in '80 and didn't change a thing. I still have that old bike and the '72 Service Manual.
