Modifing stock mufflers
I have a 1989 FLTCH. I have the stock mufflers on it and like the way they look and I also like the bottom end performance of them. I just wish they have more sound. I had a set of straight thru 1 3/4 inch drag pipes on it that were to loud and the bike had no bottom end, it was all mid range power. If I drill out the baffles in the stock mufflers what can I expect in low end performance and will it sound better?

i dont have an answer to your question, but do you still have the drag pipes? I have an 89 FLHTCI that I wouldnt mind puttin a louder set of pipes on. thanks in advance, please PM with details.

I knocked out the plugs in my stock mufflers and was very disappointed. The problem is the baffle tube is too small. This leaves you with high pitch cackle that sounds like crap. B&E performance mufflers cuts out the entire baffle and replaces with a spiral would insert (in the stock muffler.) This sounds great and its cheap. Give them a call.
