Default Thunderheader vs Road Rage

Need help deciding between a set of black thunderheaders or Bassini Road Rage for my new 2007 RG. I previously had the Theaders on my 95 Wide Glide and I loved the sound and performance of the pipes. Personally I haven't heard another pipe that sounds better. I've seen pictures of the Black Road Rage and I like the way they look over the Theaders. I'm considering going with the road rage but I don't want to be disappointed when it comes to sound and performance.

Anyone have any experience with the road rage as far sound, performance and quality? How do they compare with the theaders as far as sound? My old theaders had a deep NASCAR type sound. I figure I still have some time before any of these pipes are on the market or 2007 bikes but the indecision is driving me nuts.

The ThunderHeaders do sound really good. I had a black one on my RG. I still have it & it's for sale, but I fon't know about fit for the 07's. It definately does not have O2 bungs.

The RoadRage looks good and folks that have them speak highly of them.

Another option for black 2 into 1 is: http://www.danddexhaust.com/news/200...007_flhflt.htm

I have a black one on my RG now & it ROCKS! It does have O2 bungs and, as you can see from the link, they have them ready for the 07's too....

Thanks PHILM,

Your bike looks sweet., I like the pipes. Do the Fatcat's come in black or did you powder coat them black.

Also how do they sound and perform compare to the Theaders?

Have you heard your friends Road Rage, how do they sound compared to Theaders and FatCats?

Thanks for the tip and photos. These Fat Cats are now on my list.

To my eyes the Bassani Black Road Rage is simply the best looking exhaust available, but after much research & deliberation I decided that they might be a bit too much pipe for my mildish 95" build & could possibly hamper low end torque. They sure look sharp tho!!

Thanks!

They came black, from D&D. Ceramic coated.

I had a ThnderHeader (black) on the bike originally... only because when I started putting this one together D&D did not have the black ceramic one. From my experience, there is only one pipe that performs better than a FatCat and that's the old WhiteBros E-Series 2 into 1, which is no longer made. I have had Pro-Pipe, E-Series, ThunderHeader, and (2) FatCats.

FatCat sounds absolutely AWESOME. It's a very distinct sound, crisp...

See the attached dyno sheet. The lower run was before build with Thunderheader. Compare the shape of the torque curve of between the two pipes..... quite different. Interestingly enough, I have changed the build again (cams, heads, & compression ratio) and the shape of the torque cure is exactly the same, as long as both builds had the FatCat installed.

Also a pic of my RG with the ThunderHeader on it....

The only folks I know of with Bassani's are folks on this site, so I have not heard them.

Thanks Philm.

The black Theaders also looked pretty good on your bike. It's probabley going to come down to sound and looks now since the performance for these pipes is pretty close. I'm going to have to track down a pair of Fatcats and bassini and hear what they sound like. Looks like your pretty happy with the fatcats. Thanks for your help and the photos, they gave me a good visual.
