I have been thinking about getting a 2 to 1 exhaust, but have some questions.
Mainly, how do they perform higher in the rpms. I rarely ride under 3000 rpms and when I am really enjoying a good road i will be betweeen 4000 and 4500. I have stock headres with screamin eagle slip ons and people are always suggesting that i get a "better" or "real" exhaust.
I also like to take the bike to test and tune night at the drag strip, just for fun, when I do this I am shifting between 5000 and 5500.
the bike is an 06 superglide with stock motor, se ac, pc3
The only performance mod I have done is go from 32 t to 30 T with the front pully.
what do yall think? Is a 2 to 1 right for me.
Pipes I have looked at are d an d fat cat and rb racing .
I had a super trapp on a fxr that I liked but that was about 12 years ago. Are they still considerd a good performance exhaust, I don't see many of them around these days.
Either the D&D, Supertrapp or the RB will perform better than what you have now, I have the RB. I put a Supertrapp 2-1 on my Fatboy in 92, and when I bought my 08 FLHX I never considered anything but a 2-1. I had many many many types of exhausts on my 91 Fatboy, none even came close to the 2-1 Supertrapp back then. Ever see a naturally aspirated engine on any racetrack that didn't have a collectored system, (2-1, 3-1, 4-1, 5-1 type headers) installed on the engine....I didn't think so.
From what you have posted, it sounds as if the 2-1 setup would fit you the best. 2-1 provides the best performance you can get from an exhaust, as long as your bike is tuned correctly, especially if your going to the track doing anything with your bike. If you ride this bike just for times at the track, then go with drag pipes.
As for the exhaust you are looking at, I'm not familiar with those brands, just heard of them. I would do some homework as to what you want. I know a lot of people shout V&H or Rinehart, (which I have), and swear up and down on them. Sometimes you have to spend the money for something good, and in this case, your exhaust, is no exception. Just my 2 cents. Ride on and ride safe!
