While in the sandbox having some mods done to the Lo. S&S 106" Big Bore, CNC Porting, cams (S&S 585 Easy Start), bigger throttle body. My CR will be around 10.2:1...so I've read. My concern is that I've heard through my riding buddies that I will need to use a higher octane gas like 93 but we only have 91 or 92 octane in my area. Will this cause a problem with my build? Thanks in advance for your input.
You should be ok with 91 but it'll be right on the edge. If it does ping this is what my dad uses on his S&S 113" about 11:1 comp. http://www.cal-products.com/rocketfuel.html they are easy to carry around. Throw a few in the tool bag or where ever and just replenish them every few rides. There are others out there like it. I've seen some on the counter at my local Napa store.

You will be fine at 10.2:1 without fuue additives using 91 or 92 octane fuel. If you do ge a little detonation, it is simply a matter of tuning the bike to the fuel available. If you have to use additives, the tune is not right and most every additive only will raise octane a point or two, and each point is only .1 octane. Tuning is the key.
I have had a little problem when out of state to get High Octane fuel,,,, I did some 87 octane but before i put it into my Built 10.25 comp engine with static of 195#,
I opened the Diesel pump and added a 40/1 +++ mixture, then filled it with the low 87 octane..
I drove it away and IT never ran better (two up and loaded down),, NO ping and it was hot out..
This engine did not use 02 sensors so it not a problem.
One thing I always do IF a problem with a little nock,,,, Shift down to a lower gear when getting on it.. Keep the RPM's at a higher rate.. This always helps. Any lugging is a problem on a higher compression motor... If not using 101 octane or Diesel or Kerosene.
