Hi everyone. I have a 1997 1200 Sportster Custom and the chrome cam cover is in bad shape. The chrome is peeling off and it looks terrible. I would like to replace it but I have a few questions.
The new cam cover (Genuine H-D) comes with the cam bushings already installed. Will I have to ream the bushings to match my cams or does the cover just go on?
Secondly, I have seen a cover that comes with all the cams(also genuine H-D). Is this because the cams are already matched with the cover which has already been reamed?
Thanks in advance for your help. I found a few good deals but I am a little bit confused. I would like to do this soon.
chrome cam cover?? are you sure its not just a decorative cover? If it is actually the motor cover, you can always buy just a chrome decorative cover for it.
