Hi I have a 2007 Street Glide with a 96 cu in and 6 spd and around 32k miles on it. It has thunder header exhaust (dont know what model). I bought the bike used from New Jersey and the original owner did some other performance mods to it such as add a Dyno jet fuel injection module and some type of hi flow air filter (forgive my terminology im not much of a mechanic ! )Ive been havin a reoccurring situation where after ive been riding the bike a while and it seems to get warmer it starts to kick and buck almost like its misfiring or starves for fuel briefly. Bike never stalls and always starts first shot but begins to idle rough at that point as well. No check engine light on either !
Ive taken it to a Harley dealer twice now. The first time the mechanic took off the Dynojet saying that was the problem but it still did it. Now just today he said a needed a Harley supertuner and new O2 sensors was the only way to solve the problem. Well $700 later she ran great for a couple hrs but sure enough started doing it again !! I have changed the plugs and only run premium fuel. How come these guys at the dealer cant figure this out ??
If anybody has any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated ! I still have ext warranty on it till 2012.
Does this start as soon as it is warm? Not after a long time after it is warm? If so... Have somebody look at the IAC. Intake Air Control valve. Can be removed and cleaned with throttle/ injector cleaner no problem.
Go talk with the HD owner. You should be getting some money back simply because they failed to properly diagnois and solve the problem.
Ya have already brought that up to them. Sounds like their on side. Told them I want money back for supertuner ! They kept my bike for further diagnostic and they gave me a 2010 ultra as a loaner till they figure it out so they making an effort to make it right anyway !
