Brown color inside of exhaust pipe
I just returned from a trip with my '03 Road King Classic. During the trip after about 400 miles I noticed that the inside of my right exhaust pipe was getting a brown/rust like color inside of it where it used to be black in color, but never oily. None of the other 3 riders had this problem with theirs so it should not be related to gas purchase. One bike was the same as mine and same year, others were similiar but newer models with larger displacement. I seemed to notice this after aggressive riding going through a winding trail ride through changing elevations. The bike still runs great and it does not appear to have any problems or smoke coming out of it. It's and EFI and not carburated model.

My 08 Softail has the same exhaust colour when on the road. Bike is completely stock. A darker colour with EFI would indicate that it is running rich. The colour you see is normal for these EFI bikes that haven't been richened up or modified.
