Default throttle play

Hi everyone it's been awhile. Well I my stock grips on my 05 1200C with the ISO grips. My big question is, how much play should be in the throttle when moved or should it be tight. I counted the hills and valleys and put it back to what it was at. It seems to be running fine though, just worried I missed something.

You should not have very noticable play in the throttle, just enough to keep the cables from binding from being too tight, but you have to check with the engine running and turn the bars full left and right to see if the speed increases from being too tight. Make sure that the throttle grip hits the stop inside just before the carb or throttle body(FI) hits the stop. What this does is not stretch the cable on full throttle, the stop in the grip stops before the carb hits full open. What I usually do is adjust it real close, then with the engine off, advance the grip to full throttle and hold it there, now back off (loosen) the cable adjuster and feel the throttle on the carb till it just misses full open by a hair. You don't want to stretch the cable every time you hit the stop or the barrel end will come off and leave you stranded. After you get this adjustment done , then you take the slack out of the return cable, remember, you don't want these two cables too tight or the throttle will bind

I normally just loosen the return cable quite a ways and then start the bike. I adjust the throttle cable allowing the adjuster to pull the throttle back towards the stop. I do this running so you'll notice the engine increase if you tighten to much on the adjuster. I keep my adjustment quite close to the stop, probably not more than a 16th or so of slack. Then as stated adjust the return (which I leave a tad looser).
