I need some advice on how to troubleshoot my problem. I have a 2002 FXDL with 11,500 miles. It appears that my bike is overheating and the oil smells burnt. I am having some white smoke coming out of the breather vents and very little coming out of the exhausts. The sparks plugs appear to look normal. The bike also looses power after getting to operating temperature. I've also noticed smoke when I remove the dipstick. Any ideas on what is wrong?

With smoke coming out the oil tank and the vents, just a quick observation , I would say rings. Do a compression test , then add an ounce of oil to each cylinder and see if the compression comes up drastically. They should be fairly close in pressure between the cylinders.
