Default 95 EVO Cam Change

Putting in an Andrews EV23 cam, an SS super E and freshing up top end of my 95 Electra Glide. If I need to replace pistons and rings should I increase compression to 10.5:1 or leave it stock? The motor has 86,000 miles on it and runs great. the only reason we're pulling her apart is the rear cylinder base gasket leaks.

10.5 is entirely too much compression for the 23, I would look into a kb or wiseco piston and wouldn't exceed 9.5 to 1 unless you wanna change the camshaft, post this question on the EVO forums, you'll get a lot more responses, good luck on your build, chad

Way too much compression with that 23.
Something as simply cc'ing/re-surfacing the heads will have you where you need to be.
A good valve job wouldn't hurt either, with those miles on the clock.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. I'm not familiar with the EV23, the EV27 or EV13 are the cams most commonly used in a dresser. Call in the Evo section and use Search for 'cams' and you will see EV27 way out on top. I understand they benefit from a little extra compression, but 10.5 sounds a lot.

Any significant tuning to an older motor would be best done with rebuilding the bottom end as well IMHO. That way you will have an entirely fresh motor.
