Default Cam Position Sensor

Good morning gentlemen, 01 TC, I'm having an independent shop do the tensioner upgrade with The SE kit. Also doing a 95" build cams beadwork etc. We are upgrading the ignition, do the later model ignition units eliminate the need for the cam position sensor? My builder mentioned that it would no longer be needed and we could use both new chains that come with the kit. I know about the Andrews sprocket etc.
Disclaimer: It is quite possible I misunderstood him, as I don't fully understand how the sensor and ignition work

Thanks Dano, I confirmed also. It is a good way for early models to get the full benefit of the tensioner upgrade, by replacing the ignition module
