Rineharts installed...yellow pipe quick!
Installed my new Rineharts last night. Kinda a pain, especially getting to the manifold nuts. Did not do air cleaner yet, but went ahead and started it. Front cyclinder which i didnt get the heat shield on yet, turned gold in a matter of 1-3 minutes. Is this normal? Didnt figure it would be way too lean until i did the air cleaner.. Also,, I screwed up the new stock gaskets as ii was trying to push them into the heads. Did not have enough patience I guess. Anyways, I used the James gaskets that came with the Rineharts. Bad move?

Your bike will be way to lean without some sort of fuel management device, a dyno tune would be a good investment. I used the james gaskets and had no leaks.

Yeah, got a dyno tune coming in a few days. I was just surprised how quick it yellowed especially since I hadnt changed the AC yet...

If you just changed the pipes and not the air cleaner I don't think you are running that lean. I think that because the pipe is designed to run behind a heat shield it does not have any type of hi-temp protective coating and the normal high temperatures in that area discolored the bare pipe. A friend of mine used those gaskets and never had a problem. Good luck on the rest of your mods
