Default O2 bung size

Just got a new set of V&H Dresser duals with the 18mm bungs by the heads so I can hook up a Thundermax. Stripped the mufflers and head pipes off the bike and went to screw in the wide band O2 sensor in the new front head pipe and it won't go... Look down the bung and there is a big old piece of welding slag on the treads. Called V&H and he said the threads are 18mm with a thread pitch of 1.25. I thought all O2 bungs are 1.5 thread pitch? Anybody know for sure. I found a parts store that has the 1.5 tap but no one has a 1.25.
