Posted this a little while back, that my 2007 deluxe's pipes glow red after idleing for 2 or 3 minutes. I know the bike is air cooled and preffers to be moving, but I always warm it till the idle drops before a ride and never noticed the pipe glowing before. I sort of wrote the red pipes off as being too cold of air entering the engine or due to the fact the recall had not been done and maybe the cold air makes some symptoms worse
When I called the dealer they seemed to alarmed that the pipes would glow, and came and got the bike, after a week they called and said they did the recall and a couple of other small unrelated things, and it was ok now. But did admit the pipes got too red for them
They dropped it off in my garage yesterday,
I started it and let it run for 2 min. while got my gloves and helmet on and the pipes where
red agian
Can some one start there 07 and tell me if the pipe glow in 3mins.
my pipe get so hot that i have lite a smoke off them 2 in away.
I contacted Pete in Cutomer Service at Harley. He said that the engineers are working on a permanent fix for this known issue. Right now I hear there is a download call a "EITMS" (Engine Idle Temp Management) which cuts off the cylinder in question then restarts it when the throttle is blipped.
