I just got some Vance & Hines Big Shots and FuelPack installed on my'07 Dyna. I removed the baffles and the sound is awesome. Are any of you guys running without baffles in your aftermarket exhaust? I like the sound and performance of the Vance & Hines system (bike seems to accellerate easier), but now I've read the Vance & Hines recommends that you not remove the baffles because of less backpressureand ect. How much more of a performance gain do the baffles provide? Install pic attached>>>
The baffles cause back pressure to the engine. I have a set of pipe like that on my wife's FXD carbureted bike and it sounds great. I have a set of V&H's Big Radius on my bike and have the baffles in.

I like the V&H Big Radius also. Nice choice! So how the sound with the Baffles in? I'm thinking of putting mine back in if It makes a BIG difference in low end torque.
I may be wrong but I don't think the "standard" V&H baffle will reduce the noise level.
The baffle that comes with the Big Shots is just a big ventauri <sp?> tube that causes the exhaust to slow down and tumble, which creates back pressure. there is no packing in or around the baffle.
running open pipes will probably net you a little HP, but only if you run wide open throttle at high revs.
Thanks for the replys guys, I think I'm going to leave them out for awhile, although I can tell that I have lost a little low end. The baffle, like "HarleyWood"said above is just a big venturi with no packing around it. The Damn bike almost sounds like a top fuel dragster!
You might want to try and check out Big City Thunder Baffles website. It is after market baffles that give you the sound without taking away back pressure and low end.
I have VH big radius pipes with big city thunder baffles and sounds awesome with no loss of low end or drop in torque.
