Default Cams spin opposite direction?

Gear driven cams rotate opposite direction than chain. The front cam spin counter clockwise. Does this make any difference or sense to anyone.? Are they the same exact cam (2 right hand) or one machined to run other direction. Buy a kit or order pieces?
2003 wideglide inner cam bearing took a _____.

Thanks Tom

Cams come in a pair, 1 front and 1 rear cylinder and they are not the same.

I think I recall from Donny Peterson's book (Volume 2) that the cams have to run in the opposite direction in order that the cam profiles don't collide when running.

It has to do with being gear driven instead of chain driven. Unless there is an idler gear present, gear cams ALWAYS spin the opposite direction of chain driven. Then on the inner gears the cams spin opposite of each other. Chain driven inner, cams spin the same direction as each other. Its the nature of gears with no idler vs chains.
