true dual conversion

Default true dual conversion

I own a 2006 Electraglide Classic which recently experienced a cracked exhaust pipe at the "Y" junction coming off the rear cylinder. The local shop explained that they could replace the cracked pipe but that a better option would be conversion to true dual exhaust with Vance and Hines pipes. I would appreciate any input that anyone has out there with regard to this decision.

I don't regard it as a 'better' option, but Fulsac makes a conversion kit that will turn your cracked pipes into true duals. While I liked my TD set-up I later found that I was losing quite a lot of low/mid range torque. However it is certainly a solution that isn't too expensive.

I guess it depends. If you're looking for better performance than I'd go with a good 2 into 1 pipe. If style is more important than I guess it doesn't matter, go with what ya like..

Wise words! I was very happy with my TDs, except the left one kept resting on the top of the chaincase, which is one reason I changed to a 2-into-1. What I didn't expect was that the engine runs much smoother and has made the bike a much nicer ride, all round. The improved torque was a bonus.
