Default Toolbox install

I have a toolbox I am wanting to install on my 1945 WL. Thought it would be great to carry some tools, rags, etc. Is the mounting bracket on correctly? Does it mount on the tab shown? If so, it appears the bottom tab hits the brake rod, does the brake rod go through that hole to secure it? Or was there a tab on the original fender? The frame has been bastardized as it has been raked, but most tabs seem to be in place. Any help and pix would be great! Sorry for all the questions, just trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance! John

i know they use a few locations for the box i will try and look it up in my new 45 book i just received - the 1941 servi car and the 1947 solo do not have a box or a mount on ether of them in the shop right now - the picture was my WLA location

A picture I have from my archives, tool box bracket installed without the box. I never had one or tried to install one, this is all I got.

Looks to me like the top of the bracket goes to tab on frame as you noted, bottom goes to fender/battery box bolt and bracket that also holds the speedometer cable. Your orientation of the tool box looks correct. Good luck.

Thanks all! There is a bolt between fender and rear/center of battery box. I may need to make a strap from there to bracket. Thanks again! John

I’ve heard ‘the only thing that works on a old motorcycle is the owner’! I’m finding that out and so much to learn!

Your custom fender is missing the battery box support bracket. Bottom left of the picture, you see that strap bracket riveted to the orange fender, the provides the lower back support of the battery box. And in your case seems to be the support for the tool box, so you need to make something like that.
