Default 15 FLTRXS install

So I have started the install in my 15 Shark and since there are not a lot of Shark specific threads I thought I would add mine to the mix and hopefully help some others out.

I wont get into tank removal and such as they (thankfully) have been covered here already and are not Shark specific.

I also wont do a blow by blow on the faring removal as they are on the web also (youtube has a bunch).

I used this to seal my pods, as was suggested by more than a few people on this site(thanks for the tips guys).

1 tube will probably do 3 pods and it was like 3 bucks.

I removed the factory speaker harness and used the rubber strain relief from these to insert into the vacated hole. Its a bit of a tight fit but with just a bit of work it fits in nice and snug.

Lowes and Home Depot both have them it is in the electrical department and is a 1/2 inch strain relief. A 2 pack will run you a couple of bucks.

Next up is the use of the sealant.

Notice in the upper left of the pic where there is no silicone, that is the drain hole. You dont want to fill that in, instead you can use a sponge ear plug to put in the hole. It should be enough to seal the hole but easily removable in case of excessive water in the pod. I can not take credit for this idea, I read it in one of the threads and wish I could remember who it was who pointed this out so as to give proper credit, never the less, it was a great idea and thanks to the poster who first suggested it.

I am still playing around with where to put the BT355 but I think I have settled on this place, the left side pod mounting bracket. I will put my EZPass transponder on the right pod mounting bracket if this is indeed where I wind up putting the BT355.

Here is a shot of the strain relief in the pod on the bike.

Hopefully in the next few days I will have this finished and will post more pics, along with the Custom Dynamic Plasma Rods and Magic Strobe install.

very nice writeup!

This would have helped me a lot when I first started this, I'm sure it will be a great help to many more.

I was hoping to give back in some small way. You and others here have put up with a lot of my asinine questions and what to many of the gurus here probably seem like basic stuff but which I(who has never had tunes on a bike before) almost look at as voodoo magic or something.

Hopefully the rest of the write up can help some others also. I have a bunch of things going on at the house right now so it may be a few days before its done but as soon as I do something new I will post it here for the rest to critique.

Just south of you in Bridgewater. Looks like I have plenty of time now, since the latest round of snow has pushed back the ETA of the 1st ride till the new round of salt gets washed off the roads...GRRRRRR.

No Prob. Its looking like the first incarnation will be with the JBL 6.5 gto's but at some point soon it will either have the kappas or the Polk mm651's.

I'm usually free during the day as I work nights.
