Default 41 Springer front fender install

Got my new fender for the '41 back from the paint shop ready to install. Nothing in the OEM manual. Anybody got some tips/experience on how to squeeze that fender in there without scraping the new paint off? I know that I do have to remove the springer rockers, what I need to know is how do you keep the front and back legs from separating and making the reinstall of the rockers less of a pain. Thanks in advance!!

Not sure how different BT is from 45 for a fender installation. I know on the 45 the rockers are on the outside, BT they are on the inside. I can get my fender on and off without removing the rockers. I turn it 45 degrees and feed one rocker between the brace and fender, then rotate vertical, this is all done with the fender upside down. Then I rotate it 180 degrees into position. Spread the fender brace to get it on the studs, then the upper bolts to the springer. Hard to explain, and my fender does NOT have shiny new point. I would strongly suggest at least one more person to help. You may need to pull the fork apart to rotate the fender in place without scratching the new paint. Also none if this works with the fender trim installed, trim goes on last. And make sure you already installed your steering damper, or you will be doing this all again.

Hopefully someone else will jump in with a better description, good luck.

Lot's of low-tack tape for fresh paint! I like to run the tape on a clean pant leg first as well to make it even less sticky. On my springer I don't have to take off the rockers. Come in high at a fairly sharp angle and lower in to place.
