Do any of you guys have experience with Sifton lifters in a UL Flathead ?
I know the name was sold sometime in the past and with the name so goes the quality that made the name.
How about some opinions, good, bad or hearsay.
When we check the diameters of the lifters they are not in spec .0005 short or .0005 wider -
the lifter rollers are china junk maybe 2 years of use — what do we do
we buy oversized lifters and fit the new not on spec in spec to the lifter block so its correct — then we buy made in the USA -36 lifter roller kits from S&S and install them on the new fitted lifter body’s
this may not be what you wanted to hear - but it is the way to get the set up right for long term use - and yea i wish we did not have to do it this way but here we are
That’s exactly the info I needed, I found the wheel kit on the S&S website.
Is there any special tooling involved to secure the new axle / pin ?
Care to elaborate on the process ?
Special tool for the rollers - but its not the tool its the experience not to crack the lifter body when you press it a bit too much - how to align to do the press
a shop can do that part for you the tool is also at least 100 maybe 150 bucks today for what 4 lifters
we use a sunnen end hone for the lifter blocks - its all about the tooling when you go deep into it
