You can easily understand his business model, he probably bought the bike for under $20k, will see that money back quickly with frame, motor and springer and then have a stash of small to make more money.

Guys like him are one of the reasons some of the older fellas won't sell to people they don't know. When I first went to Oley I had more than one guy asking me if I was going to put the part on the Bay, had to tell them my life story and have three friends vouch for me to get a part bought. And this is the reason.

On one hand yeah it sucks taking apart a complete motorcycle, but maybe 2-4 guys get to finish their projects.
So their is a chance you lose one bike and gain 3

Yes it helps others, probably more than 4 but they should be parting out junkers. That was a very nice bike and I wonder if the seller knew its fate - doubtful.

I know this is an old thread, but that's how I got my '42.

The seller found out the first interested buyer was going to part it out. He said no way. Second guy from TX needed a title. (Or so he thought)

3rd times the charm for me!

Glad it didn't get parted out. I've restored a couple that many would've just looked at the parts value and went that route rather than save it.

Pay if you wanna play. It is what it is and it's not so much about making sense.
