Default Which way does this go?

Left side case crank bushing. My left side case is a ‘37 and all my books are 1940 and up. This is the correct bushing for the year but has different reliefs on each side. Thanks!

Here's my 41 flat head case and here's what I think. The single notch faces the crank thrust washer, splash oil runs down to the bearing. The upper hole above the bearing in my 41 case goes on an angle down to feed the outer row race that doesn't get splash. Mine doesn't have the extra notch like yours but logic to me says the carved out notch should align with the oil feed hole from above and help oil flow to the outer race which runs down the notch on the face of the race to the rollers. They may have found that large of a passage over-oiled the outer race and lead to too much oil leaving the engine and going into the primary past that spiral. Mine has a small pin hole to feed the outer race so clearly they pulled back the oil supply later on.

Edit to my post.

The notch may have been removed when they eliminated the blind hole mains because that closed off plate retained the oil and it could only run back inside the engine. Mine not having what is essentially a dam at the end of the bearing would indeed lose more oil if they didn't reduce the oil feed. So thats my story and Im sticking to it!

Irrelevant, they are both engines. I know which way I would put the race in.
