I run a 1946 NYS plate on my bike, took me a while to find it. I would assume 1942 would be even harder to find due to the War, but patience pays off. I actually found mine on the Bay. I like your Vanity plate, good score.
We do like billy has and register that number on the correct year of the machine - yea jersey is got sand in the a$$ about it in the town cops or state police for that matter but cant or just have not ticked me over it but i have a family card
So change in plans. Only a few days after getting my vanity plate, I spot this on eBay.
So I checked with NYS DMV and it's a go to use!
So now the HD1942 can ride my garage wall with the other vanity plates I've had over the years.

I still have (SU 44) on the '16. And to mitigate the sting, I will be selling an autographed version of my SU 44 plate. It was signed by legendary Syracuse running back Floyd Little.
Same with my Shovel, the sticker on the face is a 1970, the current sticker is on the back. I have not been hassled for either plate, I actually believe LEO understand what the Vintage plates are and why we do not want to put the new sticker on it.
What have you heard about NYS Inspections for your Flathead? I had a piece of paper from DMV once that said she was exempt due to age, but I have not been able to find it again. I have never had the '46 inspected, just wondering if you heard anything up your way.
