Default Flat head photo thread

Lets get a photo thread started. Let's see that old iron.

My '42:

Retro brass extinguisher. It has a small spray extinguisher inside.

I scored an actual '42 NYS plate. the little Syracuse one is my first city of Syracuse pedal bike license plate from the early '70's.

Default My new-to-me “1960” WL

Not original with the GL cases (titled as a ’60 due to this), GL clutch pedal, GL iron heads (painted to look like like WL aluminum ones), re-pop fenders (front one chopped tastefully IMHO), powder-coating, and Suzuki DT front wheel and brake (which I will get powder-coated to match the bike), but she was priced accordingly, and is set up exactly how I like.

That’s the thing whenever one buys anything non-original, and even original, considering acessories, color, etc. You’re buying someone else’s vision.

The seller’s vision and mine were close enough for me to pull the trigger.

I’d checked out a few of these, and it seems the nice original ones were rightfully well out of my price range, and I didn’t want a project.

Nice buy, I really like the DLS front brake - looks the part but stops the bike well?

Paint the brake and maybe the wheel black to help it "blend".

Yes, since the rear wheel is powder-coated (as are other parts that would make a purist cringe), I will probably go that route.

I have a good powder coat guy here.

I’ll ride the bike there when I’m ready so he can get it the right gloss to match what has already been done.

If I had built this bike, I probably would have done less (none) powder coat and more paint, but this is what I have.

It presents well, I think, and it’s actually liberating having a bike that isn’t an original cream puff (that I couldn’t have afforded, anyway).
