It's happening to me, too. I keep getting a pop up telling me I've "won" a chance to spin the wheel to win an iPhone 6S. You close it and it takes you to another page from which you can't get back to the forum. It happened to me 8 times in a row yesterday.
First off none of what you guys are describing is a virus, it's whats called adware and redirectors which simply hijacks the webpage URL and inserts another destination and secondly it isn't HDF doing or allowing it your hardware got tagged with a malicious browsing cookie somewhere along the line. Pirated movie, **** sites or any high traffic ad heavy website are the most common to pickup this kind of malware. Popup blockers and virus software are not stopping these as they as this new batch out there isn't triggering it yet. Worse case you have completely wipe clean whatever browser you use and reinstall it.
That is correct. We are not responsible to keep YOUR device free from adware, malware, viruses or whatever else may attack it. That is your responsibility. The ads you see are based on other sites you have visited. The adware reads that and determines which advertising fits your net use.
I have ad blockers and malware protection on both of my Android tablets, my iPhone 6s, my laptop and my desktop. I see no popup ads. You people need to do the same.
A few days ago, I started seeing ads again on my laptop. The adware people found a way around the adblocker I was using. So I had to load an updated version of the adblocker and everything is fine again.

Unacceptable. Ask yourself why you don't get malvertising on professional sites like cnn.com, amazon.com etc. But we do on hdforums? The admins can and should control their sources of advertising income.
BL: This is not a shady site, we should not be suffering from shady advertising.
All sites have the same problem, it's the ads. I suggest three things: a decent AV, free works such as Avast; the other would be Mozilla's Firefox with ad blocker; and last but not least, be aware of what you click on.
