Apparently the problem is in my main screen.
I moved the browser to my secondary screen and all that hideous purple went to blue.
Damned if I know what to do to fix my main screen!!!!

Yeah Deep Blue. When he said purple I thought it was his screen and that he meant as opposed to black...

Clicked links on many sites become purple while un-clicked links are usually bright blue.
Some sites use bright blue for un-read and dark blue for read as an indicator to the user (what this site looks like for me) or vice versa. Maybe your browser has decided that you've read everything on the site so it changed the color to show that. It's just a guess.

Update:
After doing some testing I've come to believe it has something to do with the VGA port on my graphics card.
Gotta get some new cables so I can quit using that port and see what happens.
