Default Who decides to close threads?

Why are threads started by Trolls like Wodan allowed to go on for months, and a thread like this is closed after 1 day?https://www.hdforums.com/forum/gener...ear-dry-2.html

This thread had a rough start, but it could have gotten back on track. The OP could have learned that we're not a bunch of animals, if you put a little bit of effort into your thread. I frequently see threads about riding techniques, that are closed. And weird threads from 10 years ago that get resuscitated.

It's up to a Moderators discretion. Reading that thread, it's seems obvious that he asked a question and got kidded to a point that he probably won't be back. I'd imagine no more could be added to help the OP, since he sounded like he might not be back. But I'll open it and watch to see if anything worthwhile is added.

As for Wodan, I don't have a clue to what he posts or where. And I personally don't like years old threads being revived. BUT...if someone revive ps them, people complain. If they make a new one, people complain. It's a no win situation.

Do yourself a favor ghost him for a while, you'll understand quickly. He's got about much business being in this forum as a pimp does in a convent .

If you think someone is violating the rules, then post a mod alert. We have just a handful of moderators. We can't possibly review every post in every thread. I have no idea who Wodan is. If he's in the POD only a couple of us ever go into that cesspool. Some of us would love to see the whole thing closed down. But we don't make those decisions. The rules of the POD inform everyone that the rules are relaxed and if you have a thin skin, keep out.

Well, I could understand why the mods don't want to go into the POD. Now it makes more sense. Wodan is a socialist, American hating, anti-semite. But most of won't snitch on him, so that's why he continues ranting. I finally put him on ignore, so that works for me. I am in favor of a free and open debate, so I don't mind nut jobs running free, as long as the same courtesy is extended to ball busters. Thanks for reopening the thread COC. I thought it was a kid, but I checked the OP's profile. He's a 64 year old salesman, so you think he should have a thicker skin. I hope he comes back. He'll get some good advice, if he rephrases his question.

This isn't my first forum, so I sort of knew how some members can make a new member feel like **** over the smallest things...spelling, wrong wording, asking what they feel is stupid or wrong or rehashed...so that's why I've only started less than 60 threads in the general sections since I've been here. I didn't want my question to backfire on me. Not everyone has thick skin or can take a joke or even know when someone is kidding, especially in type. So if that member doesn't come back, he won't be the first and sure won't be the last.

As as for the POD...if you don't agree with the majority, you're as good as a child molester in prison. Or a lamb in a lions den. Dead meat.

Sometimes I have to wonder if this is a biker forum or an ice cream social forum.
