Default Cookie Issue

I typically run Firefox, currently I am on 2.0.0.4. I have noticed a few "glitches" in the forum software here and there (while running FF) and I wonder if the administrators here are actively involved in (re) development of the forum software, or if they prefer to use a canned product as is for the ease of use? I'm not asking to start a fight, I just don't know if posting details about an issue helps at all, or if I'll get 10 posts telling me it works for them and then a couple "go to MS and apply patches" posts.

The issue I am currently having is that despite me leaving the checkbox checked to use cookies, I have to log on each visit to the forum while using FF. IE does not show this issue.

I can see 16 cookies that have been set by the forum software, 10 of which expire at the end of the session - leaving 5 with expiration dates from Aug 4, 2007 to January 17, 2038. There is one other cookie that is not a session cookie (named "__utmb"), however it expires today in approximately 30 minutes. The timing of it leads me to believe this may be the offending cookie. It's domain is also listed as .hdforums.com (notice the leading dot). Others named similarly ("__utm*") also have what seems to be a malformed domain.

Anyway, that's the core of the issue. If anyone can help I'd be happy to provide whatever information I can.

EDIT: I don't think it's the 30 minute cookie, despite it being within 30 minutes, closing and reopening the browser logged me out.

Wish I could help, but I'm not too computer literate. I also use FF, but never have to relog.

Check your "Clear Private Data" settings under the "Tools/Options/Privacy" tab.

Thanks for the tip. I had done this, as well as manually deleting all of the other data that does not clear. Unfortunately this is NOT a selective process and it means that all of the information stored for every website I go to is also deleted - a pretty big hassle.

What other "System Helper" type software is running? (Norton/Symantec/Spyware finders/etc.)
A lot of these programs will clear out logins, passwords, etc. unless configured non-default.

I'm running more thna a few, however turning them off has had no effect and this is the only website on which I have this issue.

I'm fairly certain that something is configured just a little "off" that maybe everyone else's system is fine with. As I mentioned previously, there are a handfull of cookies with what seems to be an improper domain and that's not something I can set. I can fully appreciate that this may be a rare thing, but there may be others that can't get around it at all and never got to post (and went away). Not everyone has experience with computer/software "features" and can get around them.
