How do you sort it all out now ? Just curious.

SoGA, exactly right. I was kicking that around a few times. And did not come up with anything I liked. Pls think of a suggestion. not just a problem. But a suggestion on how to organize this.

The only thing I was coming up with is a list of the members names in alphabetical order. (I know, I know...not great but still....).

Regarding checking sub-forums my friend, we do that now.

Regarding adding sub-forums, maybe 1 (or 2) MOD(s) can be assigned to this 1 forum 1 section. Mbrs themselves should not be adding themselves unless of course the software is (or can be) written like that.

SoGA, if there were 100 or 1,000 or 10,000 diff categories, maybe in the list of categories, only the more active categories "float" or "migrate" to the top. Maybe like the TOP 100. ?? Just thinking......

Lastly my friend, as to the Mbrs interests wandering, their interests can also be seriously peaked for 3 major reasons.....
1. Nothing ever changes here regarding the format. So that alone will draw interest.
2. Mbrs likely will seek out interests of their own. In the categories you mentioned above and many more.
3. Mbrs can (like me) get excited to have their own interests to share with others and have some degree of control over it. I can see how it can be a blast.

SoGA, what are your thoughts? Solutions too please.

4...4, I would not agree with a "Dislike" button. People in general already have a propensity to crap on others, say negative things, etc... Waaaaaaaaaaay more than ever adding anything useful to situations/conversations or being positive, helpful, or complimentary.

It is phenomenally easy to crap on others and it takes more to be helpful and useful.

You idea of adding another button my 4...4 peaks my interest. Maybe we/you can come up with something else like combing your thoughts about adding another button to SoGA's idea of there being too many categories. Maybe if there was a button to click called "Favorite" or something like that so out of hundreds of new categories or thousands, you can find your "Favorites" easily. Huh..... cool eh?

In the over 14 years that I've been here, I've seen many new and not so new members post threads where ever they feel like it without looking for the best place to post their thoughts/questions.Honestly, what would be the point in adding more new sections to post what ever trivia that a person is interested in when there's a good chance people will continue on the same road that some of them are on by still posting in whatever area they feel like it. I feel that it will just add more chaos to what the Mods already have on their plates at the moment.

I had an idea of how hard moderators work for the good of the board.... then I became one and it is an eye opener.

Ok. I'll stand down and see what others think.

'juss remember, there is a lot of history where good ideas were over looked. For example the Telegraph I think it was that was passed upon a rich guy and picked up by another and it turned into a multi-billion dollar company. (I think it was the "Telegraph" or "Telephone & Telegraph".) And MANY others examples.

Hollywood alone is replete with MANY famous actors who passed on parts for another lesser known actor who took the roll and became multi-millionaires. e.g.: Sylvester Stallone, Claude Van Damme, and another famous guy passed on the DIE HARD franchise which became a multi-billion dollar franchise. This Bruce Willis to great fame (an unknown at the time) and made Bruce very wealthy.

Of course my friends, I submit the above respectfully. The blog-like section I am suggesting is on a much smaller magnitude than the examples I gave above but the concept nonetheless is the same....just on a smaller scale.

A vote kick function, where popular vote can kick a few deserving twits out of here.
