For the life of me I can't figure out how to edit a post. In this case for a marketplace post. I want to change price. Can anyone help?

You can only edit a post within 4 hours of posting it. If after 4hrs you need a forum mod to edit it.

"Good Show" chopper_man, you nailed it.

4 hrs may (may) be diff in the diff forums and subforums. But it is a GOOD rule of thumb as I understand it.

If you need a post edited flylow5, feel free to PM a Global Moderator exactly what you would like. Clearly pls.

Also in the upper right corner, there is a post number. If possible pls click on that. It will give you a URL string. If you could copy/paste that string to the Global Moderator you are asking to edit your post, that will help GREATLY on identifying the correct post you would like modified.

Or don't F up your post in the 1st place. OH THAT IS FUNI! I am 'juss play'n with you about that flylow5. Anyone HONEST and who posts a fair amount likely have F'd up posts. I know for sure I have. Sadly........... repeatedly.

Stay well flylow5, ride often,

What is the rationale for limiting edits to 4 hours? I know they changed it to that a few years ago, but I don’t remember why.

Usually, I don’t realize I made a spelling mistake, or grammatical error until after the four hours and then I can’t fix it. It’s not worth bothering them out about but it bothers me.

I agree with Ron on this. Everone should have the right to delete or edit their post forever . Everyone occasionally looks at something they said and realizes they were out of their mind when they said it.

And if someone doesn't believe that, clearly, they are permanently out of their mind full time!??

And kill the quote ability. People abuse it by editing what one says with how they think it should have been said. Ever Sarah use to condemn people saying it was a HDFORUM rule. I agree it should be but it's not in writing that I have seen.

Yes, they can cut and paste it and do the same but then it's coming from them.

It would help limit or make it more work for people going personal and people would stick to the topic with their own opinion and stop trying to cookie cut others.

I agree, Ron. I sometimes catch something in one of my posts that I wish I could edit but, it has been more than the four hours, and I can't. Most of us on the forum are ethical and moral individuals and we all think of editing the simple things in a post; spelling, grammar, etc.

There are those on this forum that will post an inappropriate (political) comment, picture, meme, etc and a mod will have to delete it. Without limiting edit times, that person can go back to the post, and edit it, by re-posting the deleted item again and again. The mods will forever be monitoring these posts.

Here's my suggestion. The forum will keep track of how many inappropriate items have been deleted from your posts. You will be warned three times. If they have to delete a fourth item you will be banned for three weeks. A fifth item and you are banned for three months. Any more BANNED FOREVER !!!!

I know that this is a few months old, but when selling parts or bikes, we occasionally drop the price. Even if I add another message saying that I lowered the price, most people still won't know.
Whereas, if I put the price in the title, then decide to lower the price in the future, it will show the new price when the thread gets the bump.

I can understand limiting editing in regular threads, but in the For Sale section, we should be able to edit our own messages without contacting a MOD.

Pretty sure, if you ask, a moderator will update you first post and the title.

Here some of them are. Not sure if there is a more updated copy of them. Guess that's a question in itself.

But that's just it, in the for sale section we shouldn't have to bother or ask a mod to make the price change.

Anyone seriously interested in the item for sale will follow the thread looking for update on price, whether or not the item is still available, asking questions about the item, requesting photos, etc. The title should simply be the item for sale and the details, asking price, etc. included in the text of he post all of which can be updated with follow on replies and/or new information about the item for sale. There is really no need to change the edit rule for items for sale IMHO.
