Default Back In The Day

As young men during the '60's and 70's and being short on cash my friends and I learned how to repair our own cars and do our own bike builds. Basket cases were pretty available and there was an abundance of parts available especially with swap meets becoming popular. Vehicles being relatively low tech were a lot simpler to work on. Paying $50 for a Harley factory shop manual was first purchase made. Skills were shared among friends to bring projects to completion. The motorcycles were worked on in basements and garages during the winter months and ridden until the next snowfall. I was fortunate to have friends with skills including paint and body work, and mechanical skills. Our bikes never saw the inside of a shop.

Welcome from south Texas. Probably should have posted this in the Welcome section; not really a "forum issue".

As you participate here, you will find many of those "young" men are here, just older but the mentality and attitude you speak of is alive and well on this forum.

So you are not native but got to Texas as soon as you could, so we won't hold it against you. Enjoy the forum, plenty of good members happy to share experiences and help each other out so you are at the right place.
