You click on a post that you think is of interest to you and it takes for ever to get there. When you do finally get there the post is a POS that you do care about in the least. Then it takes forever to get back to pick another post.AARRUUGGHH!
Its part of life nothing I can do about it. If it keeps happing I sign off for the night. For I throw the lap top across the room and smash it into little pices.
If your PC is old and ancient and on dial up...not a lot of hope on improvement...lol. many can be made to run better by simply running some clean up utilities and disabling programs running in the background that arent necessary. even changing the browser you use may help help on some page loads on PCs. like your bike, a PC needs to be maintained to run at optimal performance.
some links on certain web sites take longer to load than others. I've clicked on a link that seems to go indefinitely, while I was waiting just to see what was going on, I clicked another browser window open and went somewhere else no problem. it's not necessarily your computer, as there's a number of factors for this. your might try some spyware cleaners. like crap cleaner, adaware, spybot or all of the above. those pesky spyware suckers can slow down your internet travels to a crawl.
It's usually serverside issues with the site you are accessing. (This forum is horrible about requireing a second click or a long wait. But look at the number of users on at any time!)
ccleaner
malwarebytes
dfraggler
browser I use mozilla firefox and once you get all the add ons completed it works great.
If that doesn't work and you have an old computer you may need to upgrade your ram. And all those programs above are free and vouched for by cnet. You can just google the programs. Mareware will kill your speed so run malwarebyte, it also gets rid of crap your antivirus won't. When you run ccleaner run the cleaner and the registry cleaner (you'll see them on the left). when you download dfraggler and cleaner it should be from file hippo.
Also open "Mycomputer" right click on the "c drive" go to properties. Click on tools and then click on check for errors (or disk clean up for XP). Check both boxes and it will run a disk clean up next time you restart your computer. Now run the dfraggler. When it's done re-start your computer. Once the disk clean up is done you should be good to go and using a whole new computer. Do this once a week at least and it will stay fast.
If you never did any of this plan on it taking a while. If this doesn't speed up your computer get faster internet and a new computer.
Oh yea one more simple thing. In you're internet borwser go to tools at the top, click on internet options and clear out your history. When you hit delete a box will come up and check all the boxes except for the one that say keeping the stuff from you favorite. Don't worry it won't delete your bookmarked websites, just the cookies.
Also your local network can be overwhelmed and that will make getting anywhere slower. I have switched to a MacBook and my computer stays fast , I have not had that slowly slowing down syndrome oh so common to the Window based PC, but going to a Mac is different and is not for everyone.
