Well, maybe I can jump in here on a related issue I've been running into.
I don't need to delete a "thread", but sometimes I decide I want to delete one of my posts in someone else's thread. If I hover my cursor over the "Edit" button below my post, I get a pop-up saying "Edit/Delete Message" but if there's any way to delete it, I sure can't find it.
Is there actually a way for me to "Delete" my post? If so, how?

No option available for you to delete your post.
What you could do is click the edit button in your post's r/h lower corner, delete your text, fill out the "Reason for Editing" box and click the Save button.
