There's Malware on your comp, you have to get rid of that first
Below is a list of programs that will help, their all free, just be sure you D/L the free ones they have.
Install in the order listed, first the ZoneAlarm, then you can start on the problem, there are other ways to stop the pop ups but they entail fooling with the registry manually, if you are not comfortable fooling with the registry I don't recommend it, the programs will do that for you.
Switch to the Firefox browser if you don't have it already, and keep the programs listed below updated.

First install ZoneAlarm free edition http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en...e-firewall.htm

2nd install SpyBot search and destroy http://download.cnet.com/Spybot-Sear...-10122137.html and run it.

3rd install Panicware <this is the popup stopper http://pop-up-stopper-free-edition.s....informer.com/ run it next.

4th install Spyware blaster http://download.cnet.com/SpywareBlas...-10196637.html and last run it also.

Good luck and take your time.

He could have a virus indeed, but I'll bet he is just experiencing the constant ad popups that I get that pay for these forums. It happens so frequently that I'm about to install a popup blocker too though, I just hate doing that cause they so often block windows and stuff I want to see when installing an otherwise browsing.

You can twiddle with the security settings but that doesn't always work. I'm using Firefox with Ghostery as a plug in, works pretty well. Good advice to make sure your system has virus and malware taken care of first.

+1 AdBlock works great with Safari. Sites load quickly with no ads and no pop-ups from scrolling across highlighted key words. I'm sure it works just as well with Chrome.
