Default 10" shocks to lower a low...

I have an 07 XL1200L, am wanting to lower the rear. I am looking at 10" shocks, but cannot get a confident answer from anyone ,(besides the manufacturer of the 10"shock) as to if it truely is as simple as changing to this shock. will it make the oil case hit the chain guard or any other space problems?? I would like some other input before I spend $229.00 on something that 'should work'. thank you for any knowledge you have.

Ask the manuafacturer for the exact measurement between the mounting holes of the new shocks. Then with your bike on a floor jack remove your rear shock and slowly lower the jack until you have the exact measurement the manufacturer gave you bwtween your shock mounts....its that simple.
I have 10" on my bike with no problems at all.......
