Default Replacing Rear Brake Line

2003 Spinger FXSTSI

I am in process of replacing front & rear factory brake lines with SS. Have the new SS lines on order but havent received them yet.

I removed the factory lines. Read some posts& did as instructed.

Question: When removing the rear line I detached the junction box & wiring, asinstructed on another post. What do I do with that box. Thefactory rear brake line is hardfastend throughit?

Sorry for being a newb. Great forum & thanks in advance!

That Tee is for the rear brake light pressure switch. You'll need to get a new tee and install the switch on the top and your brake lines to the adjoining outlets or you will not have rear brake lights.

Thanks for the reply.

I can see from the factory tee & pressure switch what you are saying.

Will my new Harley SS rear brake line have a T fitting built into it? It looks like the factory T& switch are bolted together. If the new line has a T built into it, I would unbolt the factory switch and bolt to the new T.

Otherwise, do I purchase a new T & splice the new SS rear line and connect to it?

Thanks

I would almost guarantee it would since it would be pretty crazy for them to sell a kit that eliminates the rear brake light feature. It may just be two lines and you still might need a tee. They do tend to nickle and dime you.Either way you know what you need to do to make it work.

I just spoke to my Harley dealer. The new SS rear brake line does come with aT fitting. The switch part of the oldfactory unit must be unbolted and installed in the new factory T.

Thanks again.
