Default RE: 402 tire vs 404

Yes, for that particular size tire it is, but ff you'll notice, I posted the specs for the MT90B16 tire, not the MU85B16. The MT90B16 is the much more commonly used replacement tire. Also, the MU85B16 has thicker tread. We're talking about two different animals. The RK really doesn't need that much load rating unless you are overloading the bike and/or hauling a trailer. It's just overkill, IMO. Like I said before, I've never had any problems in the past 30 years with blowouts or handling problems that were caused by a lower load rating, as long as the bike wasn't overloaded. If ya feel better using more than what's needed, then go for it. It's still not necessary.

Your post states that Metzlers are way better than Dunlop, but not now!
Metzler isn't made in Germany anymore they are made in South America!
I bought a set, they wear uneven and get less mileage, so I changed to Dunlop.
I ride a hopped-up 2000 Softail with my wife on back, I have 12,000 on the rear tire and 3/32 thread left!

Default Dunlop D404 tire popped at 125kph (70mph)

my wife and i were riding home on the highway 2 weeks ago when the rear tire on my HD Heritage Classic popped doing 70mph. The rear rim of the bike immediately contacted the road surface sending the rear end careening 2 feet to one side and then 4 feet back the other way while I frantically counter-steered to bring the front wheel back inline with the rear which seemed to work as we did not lay the bike down and slowly rumbled to a stop by the side of the highway.
The next day i discovered the rear popped tire was a Dunlop D404 and Dunlop (now) says " do not use these on Harleys or other big bikes as they do not have belts inside them ".

Use a D401 or a D402 but never put on a D404 unless you want to try the counter-steering method at 70mph I described above.
