i have 16' apes on my deluxe....i cant even change my own oil or hang a picture straight so im asking you wrenches out there for help....No matter what the mechanics at Harley do after a few weeks my handlebars keep moving too much for my liking...Any suggestions on what to do ?
is the area on the bar, where the clamp grabs on, gnurled? If not, this is likely your problem. I don't know if you can score that yourself to roughen up the area or not. My fear would be it would expose area for rust to set in.
Other than that, I think the proper procedure is to tighten the front bolts, then tighten the rear bolts. I don't have an SM in front of me, so I don't know the TQ Specs.
Giving them a real good cinch down is pretty much your best option, but be careful as you run the risk of sheering off a bolt head, then you are screwed.
