Front Brake Pads Fitting on 04 FXDXi

I've just fitted new (EDC) brake pads. \\; I noticed that the original pads were fitted in different positions in the left caliper when compared with the right caliper. \\;
 \\;
By this I mean that the pad with the 2 \\;long "ears" was on the outside of the disc on the clutch side, but on the inside of the disc on the brake lever side.
 \\;
Can anyone tell me if this is correct? And if not, what the correct installation is please?

And yes I know I should have got the service manual first! Am ordering one now!
