I'll make it short and sweet. Some woman not paying attention to the road playing on a cell phone pulled out in front of me Sat morning. I was doing about 45 but had no place to go but to ditch it. of course when i went towards the ditch i then realized i was headed right for a damn pine tree so i leaned the bike down to the right and turned the wheel to make it dig into the soft dirt. Damn woman never stopped!
Anyway after ordering all the parts I needed to do the repairs, I just noticed tonight that where the engine guard attaches to the frame at the top of the neck, the steel tab it's attached to is torn away about an 1/8 of an inch.
So my question to all you experienced people out there is this.
Is this something I need to be concerned with as far as ridability and safety is concerned or can I just have the tab rewelded to the frame? The frame doesn't appear to be bent or damaged at all, I really think it's the way the crash bar was pushed back on the right side of the bike that caused it to tear away as it did. Pics 160, 161, and 162 show what I'm referring to.
